Applied Solar has the technical and design capability
to create highly customized PV glass for very specific
architectural applications, such as atriums, facades
and roofs.
We can match virtually any glass specification in terms
of size, shape, color and design configuration. Applied
Solar is highly selective in the projects it considers.
A
recent project which demonstrates the versatility
and creative potential of our PV glass was a solar installation
for the new California Academy of Sciences building in
Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. The project features
720 four-by-six foot glass solar panels embedded with
photovoltaic cells, creating a solar canopy around the
rim of the building’s 197,000-square-foot roof.
The solar cells generate 213,000 kilowatt-hours of energy
per year.
